Inventory services and dependencies
Record domains, application versions, databases, scheduled jobs, certificates and external integrations. Document file locations, permissions and configuration, and confirm that the destination meets software and storage requirements.
Prepare backups and a validation environment
Create recoverable copies of important files, databases and configuration. Record backup times and restore methods. Validate application functions, data integrity and external connections before cutover, leaving time to resolve environment differences.
Plan cutover and rollback
Agree on a maintenance window with business users, then plan the final data synchronization and access changes. Check critical transactions, background jobs and monitoring after cutover. Define how long the original environment remains available and when rollback is appropriate.
